Delivering Excellence for a Leading Danish Brand
In 2016, 9m Construction was appointed as principal contractor for the UK bakery facility of Ole & Steen — one of Denmark’s most celebrated artisan bakeries. Located in Park Royal, London, this project brought together international expertise and complex technical requirements to deliver a highly specialised commercial baking environment.
The project presented a number of unique challenges, including close coordination with specialist contractors flown in from Denmark to install and commission complex baking machinery, ovens, and extraction systems. As principal contractor, 9m worked collaboratively across all trades to ensure a smooth and well-managed programme, delivering a seamless integration of all equipment and services.
The facility was fitted with a full climate control air conditioning system, ensuring a stable environment for both bakery operations and adjoining office spaces. In addition, a dedicated water supply system was installed to support the high and continuous demand of daily production.
Despite the project’s complexity, the bakery was completed ahead of schedule and on budget — a result of detailed planning, clear communication, and strong teamwork across all parties involved.
Following the success of the Park Royal site, 9m were proud to continue the relationship with Ole & Steen, assisting in the delivery of their first UK retail store in St James’s, London, which opened in December 2016.
This ongoing partnership reflects our ability to deliver complex food production and retail environments to the highest standards — supporting the growth of an international brand in the UK market.
